Freeweaver Studio is pleased to take part in Detoxify Your Wardrobe at The Mills Fabrica at Kings Cross in London 6 - 7 June. We will present an installation of cloth production and a series of new collaborative works by Toby Crispy (Slow Stitch Nomad) and Erna Janine of Freeweaver Studio

Summer Intern Cohort

A small number of internship places are available within an active, public-facing weaving studio.

Interns attend a minimum of two afternoons per week and participate in the day-to-day rhythm of the studio, including light preparation, workshop support, and general upkeep of the space.

The placement is structured around basic training in working on Japanese floor looms and within a shared studio environment. Interns are present primarily to learn and to contribute to the studio’s creative atmosphere.

Limited time is made available for up to three agreed independent weaving projects during quieter periods.

This is not a residency or open studio. Access to equipment and materials is restricted to agreed times and activities within the studio framework.

Applicants must have completed an introductory weaving workshop at Freeweaver Studio; however, completion of this workshop does not guarantee a place on the internship.

Muutujad.VARIABLES Book

“Variables. Warp and Weft Manipulations on Handlooms” is the result of several years of research and collaborative experimentation carried out at Kadipuu OÜ with Marilyn Piirsalu, and at the Pallas University of Applied Sciences with Mari-Triin Kirs. The authors of this book—artists and students—approach weaving as a system of variables, where elements can be shifted, disrupted, and reimagined.
Among the authors are Carolyn Carson (USA), Erna Janine (Great Britain), Jolanda Rietdijk (Netherlands) who show their works woven with RailReed.
